History
The Heart Shape Diamond was mentioned in a book written in 1655 by Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, the French merchant-traveler who found his fortune in the precious stone trade. In the text, he recalls seeing the "Heart Diamond," a 36-carat heart-shaped brilliant crafted in an ornament from the treasure of Mughal King Aurangzeb who was then a ruler in India.
