History
The origin of Marquise shape diamond may not be known to many, this shape came into existence in the 18th Century when 'King Louis XV' of France ordered to make a diamond cut in such a way that it resembles the lips of 'Marquise De Pompadour' who was his queen.

Significance
Marquise Diamonds are long and narrow with pointed tips that differentiates them from Oval Shape. They have one of the largest crown surfaces creating illusion for the viewers and represent a greater shape compared to all other shapes in similar sizes.
